The Gears of War series of games have always offered a sumptuous and satisfying single player campaign that’s as enjoyable as it is replayable, but it looks like the campaign of the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day is going to set a new record in the series with it’s length.
As revealed in a recent IGN interview, Gears of War: E-Day’s creative director Matt Searcy, has shared a hint on the length of the game’s campaign mode and it’s “longer than any campaign [The Coalition has] built” at over 14 hours, with more collectibles than it’s ever had before in a campaign. Of course, this includes the classic COG Tags”.
Over 14 hours of campaign means quite a sizable single player experience which is great and is sure to be a lot more rewarding for all veteran fans of the franchise. 10 Hours of campaign should be a standard at this point and the more there can be, the better, especially for a title with highly enjoyable gamplay mechanics such as Gears of War: E-Day.
The dev also talked about the new movement options in the upcoming game including slides, jumping, and new cover mechanics–all of which are going to make the overall gameplay even more intuitive and fluid.
“There are lots of other things you can do. There are [ways to] play with it, it’s not entirely gone. We think we found a balance in terms of how that really feels. But back to my catchphrase, it is a new game. If you come back expecting it to play exactly like a previous Gears game, it won’t be that way. [It] will probably be an adjustment, but it is also built around the same mechanics.”
Gears of War: E-Day is set to release on October 6, 2026 for the Xbox Series X|S and PC, you can pre-order the game right now with bonus contents including early access to the Open Beta and unlocking the Exfil Dom character skin and the Exfil Weapon skin set at launch.
