One of the smash hits of this year, the open world action RPG Crimson Desert has reached yet another sales milestone as the game has now surpassed over 6 million sold units worldwide. The highly impressive sales numbers were reached in less than 3 months of it’s release, which also indicates that Crimson Desert is destined to sell even more in the coming weeks and months.
“Your adventures and tales continue to make the journey of Crimson Desert even more special,” developer Pearl Abyss has stated. “Once again, thank you to every Greymane who has stepped into Pywel and experienced the world of Crimson Desert in their own way.”
Also, Pearl Abyss CEO Jin-young Heo has added: “We are sincerely grateful to players around the world for helping Crimson Desert achieve meaningful success in the global market despite being a new IP. To provide more enjoyable and better experiences, Pearl Abyss will continue moving forward and taking on new challenges.”
Of course, further sales of Crimson Desert will slow down a bit after the second quarter of 2026, which is expected but Pearl Abyss expects to maintain a stable economic revenue with the upcoming patches and adjustments for the game.
Also, Crimson Desert is set to receive a slew of improvements and added gameplay features via multiple updates from June through September, including changes and refinements to the story, an upgrade to the Re-Blockade feature which will enable new incentives for players to continue engaging with the game world after completing the story quests. The changes and improvements could result in the game offering a much better all round experience than when it first came out, marking a significant overhaul in almost every aspect which is pretty rare in the industry.
Pearl Abyss has also mentioned a DLC that’s currently at works for Crimson Desert, although no release window has been given so far.
