Crimson Desert continues to get better and better with each update packing more improvements and polish to the open world action adventure title and the upcoming update is also set to introduce a whole new extraction mechanic into the game, however, not much is revealed as to how the gameplay element will work. In a recent social media post, developer Pearl Abyss has wrote the following:
“Hello Greymanes, We’d like to share some info about the schedule and major update content of our next patch. The update will be released within the next few days and will include new special mounts, an extraction feature that will allow you to recover materials used in equipment refinement, and more. We hope you’re looking forward to this update! Thank you for your continued support.”
The devs have said that the extraction mechanic will offer more options and possibly a bit of depth and nuance to Crimson Desert’s crafting system which can extend the game’s already massive replayability. However, as most of the new mechanic is unknown at this point, it’s best to wait for more official info on the game.
In other news of Crimson Desert, Pearl Abyss PR and marketing director Will Powers has recently provided insights on why, unlike most games, Crimson Desert doesn’t have any post-launch roadmap and why the devs are able to churn out literally game-changing updates so frequently.
“Everything, patch-wise, content-wise, has been iterated in real time based on feedback, based on response,” Powers said. “If you bake in a roadmap, you’re presuming. We are not baking in presumptions around what the players want.”
The dev also stated that they’re truly open to ideas that originate from the community in ways that most studios can’t bring themselves to:
“We’re not onerous about, if an idea didn’t come from us, then it can’t be in the game,” Powers stated, “I think that’s something that [other companies are] too ego-driven a lot of the time to be able to accept other people’s ideas. It’s almost Silicon Valley-esque. A good idea can come from anywhere.”
Steadily shaping up to be one of the biggest hits of this year, Crimson Desert has recently reached another huge sales milestone as the open world action RPG is now confirmed to have sold a total of five million units in a single month with the numbers expected to grow even more in the coming weeks and months.
