Developer Playground Games’ upcoming open world role playing title Fable, which was revealed in this year’s Xbox Developer_Direct, has been reportedly delayed internally although it doesn’t necessarily mean that the game won’t arrive this year only that it’s release will possibly get pushed to several months later. Jeff Grub (of Idle Sloth) has recently stated that he’s heard claims of the game being delayed internally although he believes that Microsoft still aims to release Fable in this year so it’ll likely come out couple months later than you expect.
“I’ll say that I’ve heard that Fable has been pushed internally. That doesn’t mean that it’s coming out next year. Apparently they’re still trying to get it out this year, but they are worried about the launch of GTA6. And so if it’s getting delayed beyond the release of GTA6, that could push it into December, which might make it a prime candidate to get delayed into 2027.”
Fable was first showcased during this year’s Xbox Developer_Direct event which took place in January where it was announced that the open world RPG will arrive sometimes in Autumn this year for both PC and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Also, a PS5 version of the game was also in the cards to come out at the same time which would be great for players on the Sony platform as they won’t have to wait any longer for playing Fable. And it the game does get delayed, it just means it’ll be in time before Fall 2026, in the nick of time before the release of this year’s biggest title, which is Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6.
Of course, the impending launch of GTA 6 is the biggest factors for all other games this year as when Rockstar’s open world behemoth finally hits the market, it’ll completely obscure everything there is including even films and all other entertainment mediums.
