When it comes to Ray Tracing, there’s almost no game out there that has made better utilization of the realistic lighting technology than 2020’s Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt RED, in ways that’s beyond the capacities of both the base PS5 and the Xbox Series X. But what about the PS5 Pro as it’s essentially an advanced version of the PS5 with more rendering horsepower and RT performance? Well, now it’s revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to make full use of those extra graphical capabilities via an upcoming free PS5 Pro Enhanced Update slated to release this year.
According to a recent post straight from the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter/X account, a PS5 Pro Enhanced Update is currently in the works and will be out in the upcoming weeks. The post reads: “Get ready to go PS5 Pro, chooms — a free Cyberpunk 2077 technological update for the PS5 version of the game is coming in the not-too-distant future! Stay tuned for more deets in the coming weeks!”
And while it’s not revealed the actual visual improvements you’ll experience in the game, it likely seems enhanced textures plus a whole suite of technical upgrades which includes the new PSSR upscaler support which has also been officially announced in the Playstation Blog. Plus, the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 has several higher Ray Tracing quality levels such as Psycho RT and RT Overdrive, and one of them may show up in the coming graphical update for the PS5 Pro as it’s certainly capable of achieving a noticeably higher RT quality level than both base PS5 and Xbox Series X.
However, PC players don’t need to worry as Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS5 Pro, even with a higher grade RT, can’t touch the game running with Path Tracing on a high-end GPU.
In other news of Cyberpunk 2077, developer CD Projekt has recently confirmed that they currently have no plans of making any more new DLCs or expansions for the seminal open world title, so yeah, it’s bye bye Night City.
