High on Life 2 has dropped and it is quite the bug fest on PC, ratings don’t seem to be on the good side but at least they aren’t the score that Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition currently holds. High on Life 2 might need some emergency patching to correct all issues with crashes and soft locks, but some people report that even on sub-optimal hardware by today’s standards the game is running very well. This is a relief because that means players can and will find a way to also fix the problem, perhaps by touching up some setting things can be solved in some way.
High on Life 2 drops face flat
While the landing is not ideal I believe it is just bruises so far, with the magic of patching games things can be solved and maybe the studio behind it ran into some complications. Game making is hard, especially when it is a project filled with tons of soul High on Life 2, so perhaps asking for people to be patient might be disrespectful since they already pay but as long as things get fixed things will be well. Back in the day this would have been unacceptable, it still kinda is for me, they should have put more effort into squashing all of those bugs.
Ideally the game was tested with real people instead of trying to leverage some sort of generative “AI” slop to make things quick and cheap, it is highly unlikely they even used “AI” in any part of the process since the studio is so well regarded. This release proves that game making throws many hurdles at you that you need to surpass to reach the top and become the best game maker, the reality of this whole situation is that High on Life 2 will eventually just get fixed, hopefully.
