The Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event in Japan showcased several huge reveals and upcoming news regarding the Dragon Ball franchise across both anime and videogames and one of them was the unveiling of a brand new title called Age 1000 which is set to be the next big Dragon Ball game in the pipeline. A short teaser was released on the game which provided glimpses of some really interesting elements in Dragon Ball that looks pretty exciting in more ways than one.
Check out the official teaser below:
The development of Age 1000 was started several years ago with character designs made by the late Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama himself and according to the short teaser, it will take place several centuries into the future from the current timelines of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. The teaser features a mysterious warrior who also transforms into a Super Saiyan near the end of the video which looks really intriguing as to how this new character ties into the existing lore of Dragon Ball. More info on Age 1000 is expected to be revealed in the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 which will take place on April 18-19.
Dragon Ball is one of the most beloved franchises out there and has multiple possibilities of future timelines in different anime and games such as Dragon Ball GT which also depicted a far future timeline vastly different from everything shown in the series so far. If the upcoming Age 1000 could lean into some of that, it has the potential to usher a whole new era in the franchise that can be both promising and exciting in many ways.
Age 1000 is currently set to be released in 2027 which means we’re sure to be shown more news and insights on the project pretty soon.
The Genkidamatsuri event also revealed another upcoming DLC for the hit beat-em-up Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero which is set to add 9 new characters in the already massive roster of the game along with new costumes, Super Attacks, new stages and a new mode.
