Stop Killing Games

Stop Killing Games is one of the most important movements for the industry so far, as it has accrued more than a million signatures since it began, all of them valid and from real people. Scoring a total of 1,294,188 votes is no joke, and ignoring this movement would be something illegal to make, unfortunately we are playing against the likes of EA Games and Ubisoft among other companies that don’t care about legality and ethics. Regardless of what they might do there’s something that is very clear, people want to own their games forever and they want them to be online forever no matter the method.

Stop Killing Games is huge

Stop Killing Games as a movement has united a ton of people all over the globe, not only in Europe, fans of gaming really want to ensure that what they pay for remains available forever. Companies will say that this is unrealistic, but time and time again many examples from the past will prove them wrong, even the Half Life franchise has provided infinite multiplayer capabilities to people by allowing them to host servers. There’s a ton to be enjoyed from those games and when you grant your customer the possibility to do so, they will.

Of course, this can hinder sales of new products that are exactly the same and with minor changes, such as the FIFA series or the PES series that recently changed name. Companies want to keep pumping similar games effortlessly while taking down others and removing online aspects that essentially shut them down, and this should be illegal. It is already happening with many other products too, because apparently our rights to ownership are something meaningless to these companies. Whenever we get another opportunity to bring something similar to Stop Killing Games forward, we should take the initiative.
