Shadowglass is getting a demo in 2026 that only PC gamers will get to enjoy for now, hopefully we will get it on other platforms but Thief was also a PC exclusive for a long while. For fans of immersion simulators, this is the game for you and it also carries a very unique aesthetic that I have never seen before. The low poly vibes combined with the real time pixel art made in Godot engine is quite surprising and shows how powerful that game development software can be if people know how to use it. All of this, according to the developer Dominick John, is done with zero usage of generative “AI”.
Shadowglass looks interesting
I’m curious to see where this project will go, there was a current drought for games that played like thief and this is exactly what we needed in such a time like this. The plot and setting feels pretty much like a spiritual successor, you play as a lowly thief that lives in a society where the noble get richer and the poor become more poor, so it is clear what our mission will be. There’s also emphasis on the sound design of the game, and the fact that it adapts depending on the environment is something very neat that not many games do.
Shadowglass might release fully in 2026, but at the very least the demo is confirmed to be available in 2026, hopefully this project can come to fruition since the things we see right now are placeholder material that is made out of assets you can find OpenGameArt. OpenGameArt is an excellent resource for anyone who is trying to get into game making but does not know how to make assets. You don’t have to rely on generative “AI” when thousands of talented human artists already did the work for you, just credit them instead like Shadowglass has done.
