Detroit: Become Human

Great games are made of great ideas that unlike technologies, aren’t a function of time which means they can be just as memorable and resonant with players even years and years after they first came out and that’s how videogames become timeless and immortal. And 2018’s Detroit: Become Human is a living testament to this fact as the game has just been confirmed to have sold over a staggering 15 million units so far.

Just a few days earlier it was reported that Detroit: Become Human has sold One million more units on Steam in the past two weeks and now developer Quantic Dream has officially announced that the game has surpassed a total of 15 million sold units.

“More than seven years after its release, Detroit: Become Human continues to resonate with audiences, bringing always more players together around the world,” said David Cage, President and Writer/Director at Quantic Dream.

“What began as a reflection on choice, empathy, and humanity has become a shared journey for tens of millions of players. This milestone belongs to the community that believed in its story and carried it forward, and everyone at the studio is deeply grateful for their continued support.”

“This new milestone highlights the emotional resonance and lasting cultural impact of Detroit: Become Human,” said Guillaume de Fondaumière, CEO and Head of Publishing at Quantic Dream. “The game’s continued success across platforms, generations and continents speaks to the power of stories that place players at the heart of the experience, inviting them not only to play, but to reflect, question, and engage long after the credits roll.”

Detroit: Become Human is an emotionally rich, story driven open-ended experience featuring branched narratives and lots of player choices with narrative-altering consequences. The game tells the tale of a race of androids gradually breaking free from their in-built programming and conditioning to rise against their human creators in a series of player-defined narrative paths. More than just a great game, Detroit: Become Human stands out as an experience that deserves revisiting time and again, year after year.
