Remedy Entertainment has announced an upcoming spin-off to their 2019 hit Control, titled Control: Resonant which is set for a 2026 release on the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. And though the events of the game take place in the same Universe, Control: Resonant is far removed from it’s predecessor in terms of gameplay and aims for a straight up third person action title with strong emphasis on melee attacks unlike 2019’s Control which had you switch between both run-n-gun and telekinetic attacks.
Check out the short reveal trailer below which outlines the kind of gameplay experience Control: Resonant has in store for you:
The shapeshifting weapon seems pretty cool along with the levels which has the same trippy, surreal vibes that was present in it’s predecessor as well. And though the combat system seems refreshingly new for a Remedy game, a few moves particularly the aerial combat seemed heavily inspired by the Devil May Cry titles which is a great thing overall. Actually, if you have played the reboot version titled DmC which came out back in 2013, some of the moveset in Control: Resonant will seem eerily familiar. But one thing’s certain, this is perhaps the wildest and most eccentric game to have ever come out from Remedy and may actually push the envelope for level designs in videogames in unexpected ways.
In Control: Resonant, you’ll be playing as a different character than Control‘s Jesse Faden and the new protagonist Dylan (who is Jesse’s younger brother) comes with a strikingly different playstyle that leans heavily on close quarter, stylish moves that resemble hack-n-slash titles than the standard third person shooting gameplay mold of it’s predecessor, or any Remedy titles that you’ve played before. Though Jesse is seen in the trailer as well, which suggests she will have a presence in Control: Resonant in more ways than one.
And although the game doesn’t have an official release date yet, it’s highly probable it could come out sometimes in the first half of 2026.
