Capcom did the unthinkable when it announced Mega Man Dual Override at The Game Awards, and it was honestly the best part of the entire event. Capcom also had a very important tradition that happened in the early days of the franchise, that being the Robot Master Design contest. Recently, Capcom revived a tradition that was dead since 1996, and you can participate on it as if it were the old days. Doctor Wily wants us to create a new robot master to destroy Mega Man once and for all, and he has given us a prompt to make sure we know what to do.
Capcom did something amazing
To enter the contest, you need to have a Twitter account, it does not matter if it is old or new, and you also need to follow the official Mega Man account on X (@MegaMan). Capcom must be able to DM you if your entry advances to the next rounds of the contest, so be sure to have them enabled. You also have to post your design on your own X account using both required hashtags: #MegaManDO and #DesignARobotMaster, this will ensure that the art you made reaches them. No art is complete without a title and some extra notes around.
What matters the most is that Capcom is going to ban every use of Generative “AI”, so if you are on the minority that is reliant on that fad, pick up a pencil, art is the most accessible skill one can build starting today. Capcom would love to see your handmade art if you can scan it, but if you are a seasoned artist who uses software like Krita or GIMP, they also take digital art.
