Embark Studios has, at long last, released the elusive ARC Raiders 1.6.0 update, a patch devoted entirely to surgery on the critical exploits and collision issues that have befallen the third-person extraction shooter lately. The patch is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The December 11 update is nothing more than a fresh cleanup measure leading up to the next big content drop for the game.
The patch notes confirm that they have finally solved that most troublesome issue—players going outside map boundaries. Specifically, the development team has removed a zipline that allowed the outside the bounds cheating on the very played Stella Montis map, really disappointing for the player base. Further technical corrections include fixing a collision on the Blue Gate map, which previously allowed players to vault and fall through walls. Finally, other issues concerning materials on the Spaceport Launch Tower have been resolved to ensure that geometry appropriately blocks bullet fire and ARC view to prevent unfair shoots through environment gaps.
This interim patch arrives just a few days before the much-awaited “Cold Snap” expansion. A major content addition set to arrive on Tuesday, December 16, this expansion will bring along a new Snowfall Map Condition, a new Raider Deck to customize player builds, and a special event called Flickering Flames. The studio also confirmed that this larger update would have its very own long list of stability and quality-of-life improvements, thus building on the foundation set by 1.6.0.
It’s not just the immediate technical matters; Embark Studios also announced a change to its official patch-store rotation cadence. Starting today, the weekly updates shift from Thursday to Tuesday. The team also added that it intends to take a well-deserved break over the holidays, which means that besides the Cold Snap launch, subsequent updates and new content drops will resume around January. Therefore, the continued success of ARC Raiders in maintaining high concurrent user numbers pushes the studio to ensure stability and integrity.
