Battlefield 6 may very well have reached over 10 million sold copies, according to Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics based on his recent interview with GI.biz where it’s mentioned that EA’s flagship shooter is performing exceedingly well on all platforms, in terms of sales. However, EA is yet to confirm that number with an official announcement, at least as of yet, other than confirming that Battlefield 6 has sold over 7 million units in just 3 days.
However, despite the highly impressive launch, Elliott said that Battlefield 6’s overall sales “won’t be enough to overturn Call of Duty’s overall market dominance,” at least for this year. And in many ways, it’s unrealistic to expect that even a total of 10 million sold units can put any sort of dent on Call of Duty’s gigantic sales numbers when it comes out.
In fact, even EA wouldn’t possibly think that Battlefield 6 could eclipse Call of Duty on a purely commercial level, however if the former could indeed turn out to be a greater game in many ways, it would gain a significant momentum that could result in the beginning of the end for Call of Duty’s reign as the biggest first person shooter franchise in the world.
It’s also worth noting that while the Battlefield series have gained the most amount of sales on the PC platform, Call of Duty is well known to be a a “multiplatform powerhouse” that’s known to sell well on all platforms out there.
In other news of Battlefield 6, the first person shooter has just received a huge patch containing significant changes and overhaul to the game’s Challenges and Assignments along with tons of smaller adjustments and tweaks across the board.
“This update makes significant reductions to challenge requirements, cutting down on time investment while maintaining a focus on skill-driven progression that rewards consistent play,” BF Studios said. “Challenges and Assignments are tuned around defined playtime targets, and these changes bring their requirements in line with those goals to make them more achievable within a reasonable session length.”
