Timberborn just got released after 4 years of work, truly an amazing feat and it was about time that it released. Both the developers and people who bough the PC title are very happy with the results. Early Access projects rarely succeed at garnering enough cash to keep being developed, as they are often hidden from many, thankfully Timberborn was rather popular since it was announced and it has a massive following that is still playing the game to this day even if 4 years have passed. At the same time it makes sense, the entire point of the game is to bring an unique experience in a rather common genre.
Timberborn gets off early access
With the game finally being released, perhaps more updates will come in the future, perhaps not. It really depends on how the team behind Timberborn feels about it, it would be smart to keep supporting the game regardless as giving more support ends up upping your chances of selling the game to more people. In this era of the internet and all of the advantages it provides to gaming it is important to make use of what we now have to make a good game, and if updating is the way to do it so be it.
Nowadays it does not matter how many copies you sell, but how much of an impact you leave on the gaming world for more people to recognize your group as a reputable brand. If you aim to become Inti Creates, or any other big company that makes quality games, you need to work very hard to achieve that but failing is allowed as it can always help you along the road while learning the ropes of game development. Making them is an art, and I can say with a smile on my face that Timberborn is definitely a neat piece of art.
