The early access of Skate will enter its first season on October 7, with Full Circle out to amend player feedback and enlarge the game world less than one month after its controversial launch. Season 1 is set to run for almost two months and will end on December 2, 2025, bringing with it a plethora of planned additions like thematic events, substantive new cosmetics, and some vital quality-of-life fixes. This content drop will be the first real test of the studio’s long-term commitment to a live service model for the game, which the team announced back in 2022. Given the mixed reception due to server problems and the all-encompassing microtransaction system in the first weeks, the success of this first cycle will determine whether or not players regain their confidence.
Season One features two unique in-game party activities. The first of these, referred to as Skate-O-Ween, will commence on October 7 and run until November 11, focusing on seasonal pizzazz and activities rewarding early adopters. After a short hiatus, the content will flow into the 7-Ply Maple Harvest, commencing on November 18 and closing out the season. Throughout both time frames, the city parks will be externally decorated, and players can partake in limited-time challenges. Participating successfully will earn players in-game currency called Tix, which can be redeemed for exclusive themed cosmetics. The season will also bring new skateable architecture and areas into the world, enhancing the city’s geographical footprint for all the players.
The skate.Pass progression track will be the seasonal linchpin. In its bid to ease some of the concerns that had been raised about the game’s monetization, Full Circle has confirmed that the pass will feature free “Standard” and paid “Premium” tiers. Both tiers will allow access to seasonal events and the Tix economy, but the Premium tier will offer much more in terms of unlockable content. In particular, free tier offers a minimum of thirty-two unique cosmetics, whereas Premium unlocks an additional forty-two items and other bonuses. Cosmetics cover board decks, grip tape, clothing, gestures, and profile customization items.
Outside of seasonal events and rewards, the developers have assigned resources to technical fine-tuning and improvements in a timely manner. Each upcoming season will incorporate quality-of-life enhancements, as well as fixing anything relevant. The studio has consistently stated that a goal of the reboot is to feel the “best Skate has ever felt”, indicating that they recognize foundational improvements are just as vital as new content. With confirmed brand collaborations and additions to the game soundtrack in this cycle, Season 1 is what will set the crucial standard for how this long-awaited title evolves in an arduous live service market.
