Activision has announced that a new free trial for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Multiplayer and Zombies will go live from today till November 3 which occurs at the same time as the launch of the first Season in Battlefield 6 that also kicks off today, October 28. Also, the free-to-play, battle royale mode in Battlefield 6 which is named REDSEC, is scheduled to start from today as well at 8am PT / 11am ET.
It seems that Activision launching the Black Ops 6 multiplayer at the same day is a deliberate attempt to provide a significant part of the gaming community, who are the players of the Call of Duty franchise, some form of incentive to play another bout of Black Ops 6 from today which would clearly lessen the total numbers of potential players for Battlefield 6 for obvious reasons.
Activision had earlier offered free trials for Black Ops 6 during the launch week of Battlefield 6 which was another attempt to move some of the players to their own game instead of playing Battlefield 6. And by now, this sort of move is starting to feel a bit maligned and insecure, if not slightly desperate from Activision. It’s also a bit shady cause in case of any competition, both games should be given the chance to appeal to gamers solely by their own merits and not one of them trying to interfere with the other’s release weeks with tactics such as these.
And though this is clearly a move from Activision to steer away some of the players from Battlefield 6, there’s actually little chance of it working cause as the previous entry in the COD series, Black Ops 6’s overall gameplay mold is already a bit outdated which has been improved upon by the upcoming Black Ops 7 in a myriad of ways so there’s not a lot of actual reasons for going back to a title that’s already surpassed by it’s immediate successor.
