Nintendo has unveiled the second competitive season for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, detailing the start of the event along with that essential mega evolution item that elite trainers look forward to. The second season of Ranked Battles begins on November 5 at 10 p.m. in PT and ends on November 25 at 9:59 p.m. in PT. What this new competitive window really means to players is that, much to their excitement, they can now obtain the precious Delphoxite, the Mega Stone for Mega Delphox.
To gain access into the competitive ladder, the players must navigate the Link Play menu within the game, with all of the players starting at the very base Rank Z. The format remains a four-player real-time battling system wherein high performance results in the advancement of ranks and gaining points. These conditions aside, the eligible participants for battle are only limited to Pokédex Lumiose: creatures numbered all the way through 001 to 229. All qualifiable entered Pokémon would automatically register at Level 50, regardless of their level upon entry, thus normalizing the competitive floor.
Specifically, the centerpiece reward-the Mega Stone Delphoxite-would be given exclusively to trainers who managed to reach at least Rank K during the three-week season. In addition to the mega stone, players have access to an extensive tiered system of consolation prizes for all competing ranks. Trainers reaching the prized Rank A receive the highest bounty, multiple Dream Balls, a Gold Bottle Cap, and a handful of Seeds of Mastery among the treasures. Others will share the different ranks lower down to the basic Rank S, receiving smaller, valueless assortments but providing at least a considerable amount of in-game resources critical for team performance optimization and overall resource accumulation.
This announcement comes almost directly after the end of the first season, where competitors were fighting to earn themselves the aforementioned Mega Stone for Mega Greninja. There is no mistaking it, now clear from its content and structure, that the temporal injection of these Mega Stones into limited-time ranked events by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company is an effort to maintain players’ interest in the competitive multiplayer side of the game. Given the overwhelming critical and commercial acclaim for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, these seasonal battles probably will continue as an important vehicle for the user base to obtain new Mega Evolutions along with the unique items required for high-level teambuilding.
