EA has officially confirmed that Battlefield 6 has sold over 7 million copies in just 3 days after it’s release, being the franchise’s biggest launch ever. In an official press release, EA announced the groundbreaking success of Battlefield 6 and thanked the FPS community for making the game a huge hit in every way:
“We never take moments like this for granted, so I want to express our sincere gratitude to our global Battlefield Studios and passionate community that has helped get us to this point,” Battlefield boss Vince Zampella stated. “We appreciate you joining us for Battlefield 6’s momentous launch. We have so much more to come in the weeks ahead.”
EA has also released several stats from the game’s opening weekend that clearly show the enormous interest in Battlefield 6 from players all around the world. To start off, over 172 million online matches have been played so far on all platforms and gameplay of Battlefield 6 was also viewed in streaming services like Twitch and Youtube for over a staggering 15 million hours in total.
These official numbers also confirm previous sales estimates from Alinea Analytics this past week where it was revealed that Battlefield 6 has sold upwards of 6.5 million copies so far.
Also, while the numbers are mighty impressive, they were hardly a surprise as EA’s flagship shooter had already seen an overall player count of 747,440, besting it’s arch-rival Call of Duty’s figures by a significant amount.
Battlefield general manager Byron Beede also thanked the players and the fans for making their latest FPS so successful in every conceivable way:
“First and foremost we want to thank our players. Battlefield 6 was built with our fans. From the initial concept through to the implementation of Battlefield Labs and into the record-shattering Open Beta we have been obsessed with player feedback. Together, with our players we’ve had a singular goal: to craft the best Battlefield ever. And this is just the beginning – our first season of new content is just 12 days away.”
Battlefield 6 has proven to be a stunning return to form for the Battlefield franchise and will continue to expand it’s range of contents with the upcoming Season 1 which kicks off from October 28 and will add a new map named Blackwell Fields, a 4v4 mode and Rogue Ops.
