The 13th mainline entry in the longrunning Ubisoft franchise, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be getting a new story expansion titled Valley of Memory, for free on November 18. Containing around six hours of additional gameplay and story, the upcoming DLC for Assassin’s Creed Mirage will follow protagonist Basim into ninth-century AlUla (a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the modern day Saudi Arabia) in a quest to find his long lost father.
Valley of Memory will introduce a new region in Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s map along with new assassination targets, side quests and missions. Besides including a new twist on the series’ staple Black Box Assassination missions which let you complete assassinations in a myriad of ways, the new DLC also brings several gameplay improvements like more refinements in Mirage’s parkour mechanics such as manual jumping, smoother transition when moving between rooftops and the ability to customize side and back ejects.
The city-based parkour was a return-to-roots for the series when Assassin’s Creed Mirage first came out and all the new tweaks and polishes to the beloved mechanics definitely seem like welcome additions in the upcoming DLC as they’ll give fans more of what they loved from the original game.
And while the addition of a brand new DLC is definitely exciting for all players who have enjoyed Assassin’s Creed Mirage, it’s worth keeping in mind that the upcoming content does not focus on Basim after the events of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla nor on the events between Mirage and Valhalla, both of which still continue to remain as totally unanswered story threads that Ubisoft has done nothing to address so far.
The Valley of Memory free DLC was largely made possible by a deal between Ubisoft and the Saudi Arabian Public Investment fund which is the national wealth fund in the country. The Public Invested Fund has also invested in several other game companies lately and was also part of a three-way bid for turning EA private for $55 bn.
