Looks like we’re getting a taste of the upcoming James Bond game 007: First Light much sooner than many would’ve hoped for as Sony’s upcoming PlayStation State of Play broadcast will feature a deep dive into Hintman developer IO Interactive’s third person action title with around half an hour of gameplay. The broadcast is set to commence this Wednesday, September 3 at 11am Pacific, 2pm Eastern, or 7pm UK time via PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels. So if you’re hyped for 007: First Light, make sure to tune in tomorrow for 30 minutes of exclusive gameplay reveal.
“In this upcoming State of Play, tune in for over 30 minutes of gameplay featuring a playthrough of Bond’s first mission as an MI6 recruit,” Sony wrote of the upcoming presentation. “The action includes everything from high-speed car chases to on-foot stealth sequences and shootouts. Stay tuned after the playthrough for insights from IO Interactive on the intense espionage gameplay.”
However, Sony hasn’t mentioned any other game that’s to be showcased on the upcoming State of Play broadcast so looks like 007: First Light will be the main highlight beside the upcoming Ghost of Yotei, of course. But given how ambitious and exciting the James Bond title seems, maybe that alone will be enough, for now.
Previously, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak had spoke on their approach towards the upcoming James Bond title 007 First Light and confirmed that it’ll share several elements from their highly successful Hitman series of games as the studio has gained “tons of experience now from World of Assassination, and tons of experience on how to extend a single-player experience by giving desirable free content to players.”
007 First Light is a fresh new take on James Bond and is expected to come out sometimes in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and the Nintendo Switch 2.
