Dragon Quest VII Reimagined was a surprise to many, the new trailer was unexpected and it genuinely made some fans very happy. Square Enix seems to be laser focused on doing things right and ensure the stream of remakes keeps coming, now focusing on the American side of things since Dragon Quest VII was the latest title after a huge Dragon Quest hiatus back in the day. We all know that this game is also one that focuses too much on story, to the point the original PS1 release had you do entire hours of game play before finding your first enemy. Many liked that, while some vocal minority hated it, we can only hope they keep it intact.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined looks amazing so far
There will be changes of course, even the 3DS did cuts to the plot, but apparently they plan on cutting even more stuff. Many companies think that people don’t have the time to play games and they feel justified on cutting content because of that, quite the ludicrous reason. Of course, there’s no time, but that does not mean they should cut content off a game its like cutting pages of a book because some people don’t like reading or something. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined better find a way to keep its soul from being snatched away by weird decisions.
Square Enix has been making some particular choices lately, but at least the 2D HD remakes are somewhat interesting, albeit not 100% true to the original core material that it needs to respect. Thankfully that isn’t going anywhere and people can boot up whatever version they desire on an emulator, or if they are lucky enough, owning it physically on a console should suffice too. The 3DS version of Dragon Quest VII has an interesting translation direction, so we can hope they keep that intact for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.
