In an exciting announcement from Gamescom Opening Night Live, two of gaming’s biggest franchises are joining forces again. Capcom’s upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds and Square Enix’s long-lasting MMO, Final Fantasy 14, have revealed a new crossover event. This event promises to bring a taste of each universe to the other. The collaboration will launch in the coming months, offering a significant content update for both fanbases.
For Final Fantasy 14 players, the new trial will pit them against Arkveld, the main monster from Monster Hunter Wilds. This tough beast will be part of a multi-difficulty encounter. Players will have the chance to earn a unique Seikret mount and a cute Palico minion as a reward for their victory. This highly anticipated trial is set for an early October release.
Meanwhile, to return the favor, Monster Hunter Wilds players will face a true challenge from Eorzea: the iconic robotic boss, Omega. A new trailer featuring the thrilling theme “eScape” showcases the Omega encounter, which is sure to challenge even the most experienced hunters. Players who succeed will be able to customize their Seikret with a Chocobo mount skin, a neat nod to the Final Fantasy series. The Omega part of the collaboration is scheduled to go live in late September.
This isn’t the first time the two series have teamed up. A similar crossover took place during the Stormblood expansion of Final Fantasy 14, where players fought the legendary Rathalos. That event also included a Behemoth fight for Monster Hunter players and is still a fan favorite. With both games facing a competitive market in 2025, this new crossover is set to provide a welcome boost of new content and renewed interest for both communities.
