An insider has reported that the remake of Halo Combat Evolved will only feature it’s single player campaign and won’t come with a multiplayer mode at all. In Rebs Gaming’s Exclusive Report on the Halo: CE Remake, he has shared important updates on several upcoming Halo titles including the Remake, Project Ekur, Halo 7 and more.
As with the Halo Combat Evolved Remake, Rebs has stated that a large part of the new materials that have been showcased for their Unreal Engine 5 research project titled Foundry, “is expected to be included in the projects they are currently developing” and is “clearly based on Combat Evolved”. Then he shared new info on the Halo remake which according to him, had begun in 2023 with a planned Anniversary Project set to release in 2026. Here he also said that the remake will feature only it’s campaign mode and may very well come out on the Playstation 5 as well.
His comments do make a lot of sense as the original multiplayer mode in Halo: Combat Evolved is way outdated in the modern era of gaming and it’s likely the developers 343 Industries will take a bit more time to develop the multiplayer side of things which they’ll include in the next mainline Halo title than in the remake.
Rebs has discussed the next installment in the series, namely Halo 7 on his video as well and based on his exchange with the Halo Community Manager, he believes that Halo 7 is currently in it’s pre-production phase and could likely be an indirect sequel. The game is probably a long way off as according to him, Halo 7 could arrive with the next generation of Xbox consoles.
And lastly, he also debunks some of the rumors surrounding Halo Infinite and one of them being the multiplayer mode of Halo Infinite ported to the Unreal Engine 5 which is simply not true. He also spoke at lengths about more news regarding the Halo series of games which all fans will enjoy and if you’re one of them, head into his Youtube channel and check out the video in it’s entirety.
