Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army has dropped on Steam, while everyone was busy paying attention to what happened with Persona 4 Revival rather than awaiting for a remastered version of a classic. The Raidou series was one with many mysteries, as it does happen in the past of the very convoluted timeline that the Shin Megami Tensei series has. It’s true that many people love sticking to Persona 3 to 5, but they do miss out by ignoring the other games of the series such as Shin Megami Tensei 2, one of the best JRPGs and Dungeon Crawlers of all time in my opinion. We at Infinite Start will cover more details.
Raidou Remastered suffers an obvious problems
Yes, it is what we dreaded again, it seems that Atlus has a contract with Denuvo for who knows how long, which means that we will probably have to wait for them to remove Denuvo from the game, or pray they drop a Demo to at least test the game. I hate Denuvo with a passion, as it makes trying to run the game on anything that isn’t a Windows system into a slog, the fact that an anti tampering company wants us to compromise our security to play single player games is insulting. It is very sad to see how the Raidou Remaster was also tainted by the Denuvo virus.
The original game on PS2 still holds up very well, and rather than trying the remaster first, I would recommend to fire up a copy you can get everywhere of the PS2 original. Oftentimes, remasters remove cool elements that only existed in the original version, which makes them become inferior versions the majority of times. Like many remasters I have played, it seems that they have become easier than the original base game, no matter which difficulty you pick.
