Intel made a massive blunder these days. PC gamers are disappointed on the performance of the latest Battlemage that came out recently. In the GPU space, Intel still proves that they have a lot of things to get right, they cannot even beat AMD. Ironically, the market share of AMD has fallen by 8%, and even with that plunge Intel still struggles to make a mark. According to the Steam Hardware Survey, a ton of the space is occupied by Nvidia GPUs, then AMD follows suit, and you rarely ever see Intel anywhere. We at Infinite Start will cover why these things happen.
Intel cannot win against a monopoly
The truth is, it takes a lot of effort to try and beat a company, that despite making terrible decisions lately, still keeps a huge market share grip. Nvidia is pretty much what most gamers know, and they have trusted on that company for generations now. It is about time that people opt for a better one, but they can’t seem to find quality in other hardware. The reality is, competitors arise, by providing different solutions to a problem, one can actually get a foothold in such a competitive market.
Maybe GPUs don’t really need compute anymore. There’s different things that a GPU can be configured to do and even at a way lower price than usual. If Intel, or even AMD could focus on providing users with a real architecture alternative, maybe they wouldn’t be buying from the green giant so much.
Alas, as gaming advances, things get worse and even uglier when it comes to performance. If things keep going this way we will have to ensure we get some sort of new cooling systems going around. We already have cases of GPU related components melting, alongside some of the GPUs too.
