Hypnospace Outlaw creator has confirmed the cancellation of Dreamsettler, a follow up to the aforementioned game. Only PC players were able to experience the journey that Hypnospace Outlaw provided, and many who did have declared it as a true form of art in the modern times of this medium. It is sad to see this happen, but life gets in the way most of the time, and health is the most important thing to prioritize before a project. Things sometimes don’t work, and that’s completely okay, it often happens when a project is too ambitious, and getting burnt out when working on something is a thing that happens to everyone. We at Infinite Start will cover this sad reveal.
Hypnospace Outlaw’s successor gets the can
Despite a Patreon being opened for some months to properly fund the project, it seems that money will be refunded, at least from what is still there. Financial things affect everyone, and it is nice to see the people behind the game actually giving back to the community, even if things didn’t end up as they should. Treating this topic in such a way was the best course of action, and it shows that those who were working on Dreamsettler truly cared about providing something meaningful like Hypnospace Outlaw was to many.
Its not always that you see this happening, as it often is shrouded in drama and other things that people do not wish to interact with. The publisher behind the game is, in the words of the creator, a good publisher that tried to do its best to help with the project in any capacity. This is an increasingly rare sight, as the common thing to expect from a publisher is rushed deadlines and no proper support from them. This is a sad ending, but maybe someday we can see something from Dreamsettler being released in a different medium.
