Epic Games has officially unveiled Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3, accompanied by a landslide of new gameplay mechanics and material that has the potential to redefine the overwhelmingly popular battle royale. With the recent close-out of the Galactic Battle mini-season and its live event Death Star Sabotage, the island is in need of a new generation of mythical figures and strategic depth.
One of the largest things to remember in this new chapter is that the original DC Comics characters have been included. Legendary characters such as Superman and Robin are playable through the Chapter 6 Season 3 Battle Pass. What makes this one of the better Superman releases, however, is that it is borrowing from James Gunn’s new movie, so the Man of Steel is solidly contemporary. Players will also be able to call in Superman’s faithful companion, Krypto, as an in-game item special, which offers another new strategic combat alternative.
In addition to character patches, Epic Games added the “Hero Rank” system as among the most significant of the game’s changes. Ranked as a “C” on the HUD when deploying from the Battle Bus, the rank is improved with a few activities within the game such as killing players, henchman kills, remaining alive in storm circles, and redeploying sprites into respective shrines. The charm of climbing one’s Hero Rank is that it unlocks “Hero Caches” throughout the map. They are loot storage spaces, but of course more importantly, they possess a Hero Rank which needs to be unlocked before it can be accessed by players, so they will be motivated to level up for precious legendary weapons and accessories.
Also, the game’s legendary sprites have been elevated, with new abilities such as Superman’s ability to emit laser beams. It’s from these macro advancements and partnership deals, such as upcoming crossovers involving Fox properties Family Guy and its Cleveland Brown spin-off, King of the Hill, and Bob’s Burgers, Chapter 6 Season 3 is a promising and vivid future for Fortnite, to include more engagement for its enormous player base.
