There are new rumors that suggest Epic Games is considering huge Fortnite OG mode makeovers that will add a new casual experience to the game, and redefine the position of automated players. These updates, from a veteran leaker, are hitting the streets as the game waits out fluctuations in its player activity numbers.
According to information leaked by popular Fortnite leaker HYPEX, Epic Games is said to be designing a complete elimination of bots from the original Fortnite OG game. This specific adjustment would involve all participants in a game as a single human player only, boosting competitive ferocity. Redundant, the same sources report the development of a separate “casual” Fortnite OG version. This relaxed mode as suggested would include a lineup of twelve human players and eighty-eight bots, providing a less competitive environment for those that want less player-to-player. This mode could be available to cater to more client bases, blending the requirements of an all-player-versus-player venue with freer ones.
Adding bots to Fortnite OG did not occur long after the initial release back in December of 2024 when the mode was completely bot-free. This potential switch about the availability of bots comes after a highly contested period for the game, with Fortnite at its lowest level of users in two years during May. The reduction in activity has been the subject of many speculations among the community, but there are officially given reasons that typically explain factors like “matchmaking health” for game mode changes.
This is not the initial time Epic Games has pulled or replaced parts of Fortnite OG’s competitive material. Fortnite OG and Fortnite OG Zero Build ranks were earlier in 2025 taken away mainly due to matchmaking issues. As Fortnite continues, the aforementioned changes show Epic Games’ persistent initiative towards improving the player base and adjusting to changing community trends as player data flows in and out.
