Control’s Spin-off shooter FBC: Firebreak has confirmed to have reached over 1 million players, marking a “significant milestone” for the studio despite the devs acknowledging that the multiplayer shooter still needs a lot of work put into it. The studio posted this in their official Twitter/X account:
“As of last night, we have surpassed 1 million players in FBC: Firebreak. This is a significant milestone, so thank you for playing from all of us at Remedy. We know there is still a lot of work ahead of us, and we are super-motivated about it. We have a lot of exciting things cooking for Firebreak players! More about that soon.”
And while the game’s currently a bit disappointing in many areas, the fact that the developers are well aware of this and are working to turn FBC: Firebreak into a significantly better experience for all players is clearly good news. The game has also received a patch last week which added a ton of gameplay changes to overhaul many of it’s core mechanics’ such as it’s progression system, loot system and many more besides bringing rendering and performance improvements into the game.
Remedy has previously acknowledged multiple aspects of the game that currently needs lots of work to iron out, the devs stated that FBC: Firebreak’s Opening gameplay sections is far from “a great experience due to a combination of things,” plus “the power fantasy isn’t great in the first hours of the game as starting weapons feel weak, and unlocking higher-tier weapons requires a bit too much grinding.”
Set in the same Universe as Remedy’s earlier Control, FBC: Firebreak lets team of three players fight and fend off supernatural enemies inside a secret government agency. And while the game is off to a rocky start, here’s hoping it gets better and better in the coming weeks as the devs churn out more patches and fixes to improve the core gameplay in a myriad of ways.
FBC: Firebreak came out for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows on 17 June.
