The Sunken City

The Sunken City drops a new demo on Steam in 2025

The Sunken City has a cool new demo that you can try out on PC. If you are a big fan of older From Software titles like King’s Field, or newer iterations based on it like Lunacid, you will enjoy the fast paced combat of this seemingly little indie title. This is Kyle Burgin’s first public title, and like always, the journey of the indie game developer is a long one that not many opt to start. We have to commend the bravery that it takes to release a new indie game in today’s overflowing market. As always, indie developers are mainly passionate about trying to respect the titles they love in an artistic way.

You can now try this agile version of the early King’s Field titles, there’s even parry mechanics in this one for those who are fans of using their reflexes with a bit of risk. Along with this, the game promises some retro goodness in the package, and the visuals strike resemblance with the series it is based on. People might believe this is too generic, but there was an intent to make something that looked this way. This is the early From Software aesthetic, or as I like to call it, “programmer art”.

While simple and low poly, The Sunken City promises a challenging experience that can be enjoyed by anyone who tries it out. Along with this, and as mentioned before, the twist is that this game is surprisingly quick compared to your average From Software title of those times. If you really wish to survive, you will have to make use of all the mechanics presented to you, and combine them with your reaction times.

The world is also interconnected, and there’s ton of secrets to discover, even in the demo you can actually find some, if you really liked what you played, go and wish list the full release.
