Game insider TheGhostOfHope recently sparked rumors among the Call of Duty community by suggesting that significant changes are in store for the Battle Pass format within the newly released 2025 game, allegedly Black Ops 7. The suggested revamp is a revolutionary shake-up from the tried-and-tested format and could potentially overhaul entirely how players engage with post-launch content.
According to the information given, one of the main aspects of such changes is Limited Time Modes (LTMs). Future LTMs would allegedly be fully tied to ownership of the game’s seasonal Battle Pass. They are referred to as “higher value” modes, which may contain unique rewards and gameplay features that wouldn’t be available anywhere else. This would be a departure from the existing paradigm, where LTMs are typically open to all players for free.
In addition, the leak also indicates that quality cosmetic content, such as operator skins and loot, and crossover content related to these LTMs could also become Battle Pass-exclusive rewards. This would essentially replace the “Premium Event Track” system that is currently observed in mid-season updates, with premium content behind the Battle Pass paywall.
These reported changes have already sparked controversy among gamers. While some may see this as a way to enhance value for the Battle Pass and coax people into buying it, others will likely have concerns about limiting gameplay content and premium items behind an additional cost. As with all rumors, one must be careful with this information until some official announcement from Activision or Treyarch is available. But if such changes actually occur, they would impact the player experience and the Call of Duty ecosystem as a whole in 2025 quite heavily. These potential changes to the Call of Duty 2025 Battle Pass, if they materialize, could certainly lead to some heated debates within the community.
