Bungie, the famous developer behind the Halo and Destiny franchises, has recently presented the minimum PC system requirements for the closed alpha game test of his next extraction shooter, Marathon. This announcement provides anxious PC players with an early vision of the game’s hardware demands, which is scheduled for a complete launch in September 2025 in PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
The minimum revealed specifications suggest that Marathon’s alpha construction is currently well optimized. The players will need at least one GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4GB) NVIDIA, an AMD Radeon RX 5500 (4GB) graphics card or an Intel Arc A580 graphics card (8GB) to participate in the test. They are generally considered input level GPU according to current standards, indicating potentially wide accessibility for PC players during this early stage.
In the front of the CPU, the requirements are also relatively modest, with an Intel Core i5-6600 or an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 that is enough. The RAM requirement is established in 8 GB. Interestingly, Bungie has not yet revealed the discharge size for the closed Alfa, leaving possible testers in the dark with respect to storage needs. However, given the growing trend of modern PC games that recommend or require SSD, it is plausible for the marathon to do the same.
It is important to keep in mind that these specifications are specifically for the closed Alpha and are subject to changes before the official launch of the game. Bungie has indicated that the most detailed requirements of the PC system, including recommended and ultra configurations, are expected to be released after the closed alpha trial period concludes on May 4.
The closed Alpha game test for Marathon is scheduled for April 23 to May 4. This initial test phase will be crucial for Bungie to evaluate the technical capabilities of the game and collect valuable comments from the players. Access to the closed Alpha is limited, and interested players had to register through the official Marathon Discord server. Participants must also be at least 18 years old and reside in North America. In addition, those selected for the game test will be bound by a non -dissemination agreement (NDA), prohibiting them from publicly sharing any game footage or discussing the alpha’s content.
Marathon marks Bungie’s return to a classic franchise, reinventing her as an extraction player focused on the player versus player (PVP) set in the mysterious planet of Tau Ceti IV. The players assume the role of runners, cybernetic mercenaries competing in teams of three to ensure the loot and escape hostile environments while facing rival equipment and threats controlled by AI. The complete game promises to evolve narrative elements, customization options and a combination of shooting game in the first tactical person and fast rhythm.
