Yokai Goddess Prologue has dropped on itch.io for PC players to enjoy. This new title is filled with a plenty of references to other indie game classics. From the likes of Touhou, to even those of Corpse Party, this game is sure to deliver a trip down memory lane. Of course, the game will focus on being itself, that’s the magic of indie games, most of the time they remain true to themselves. While this entry might be a mix of multiple things, it still has its own essence that makes it unique. We at Infinite Start will cover what we know about this title.
Yokai Goddess Prologue, a beginning
So far, we only have a prologue of the game in the Itch store. Itch is one of the best places to find creative indie titles that wouldn’t otherwise appear on Steam due to restrictions in content. Not to mention that Steam often charges developers a certain sum of money to display their games. Itch is often more curated than other stores too, putting focus on game quality rather than quantity, with plenty of filters to use.
This new game is described as a mix of classic RPG Maker horror games and a bullet hell. RPG Maker horror games have been with us since the 90s, although, they were more common in Japan. The phenomena expanded in the 2000s overseas, slowly taking over and becoming quite popular until a boom happened in around the 2010s. The action in Yokai Goddess is frantic to say the least, a common thing that happens in the Bullet hell genre.
This game has lots of potential and it might become one of the biggest titles on Itch for a while. In case you are interested in trying out this new game, you can download the Prologue for free. You can show support to the solo dev behind it by optionally parting with some dollars.
