Looks like the recently released Monster Hunter Wilds is off to a rocky start on the PC platform as the game is reported to exhibit tons of performance issues and other technical problems that can seriously get in the way of the players’ enjoyment. The crippling performance problems are also one of the main reasons for the game’s negative Steam reviews right now, which is understandable. So if you’re planning to buy Monster Hunter Wilds on PC, it’s better to wait till Capcom releases a few patches to iron out some of the issues, at least.

Currently most of the complaints regarding the PC version of the game is centered around it’s technical issues–from crashes to poor performance even on a higher-end rig, multiple users have also commented that the game doesn’t even look as great as it was supposed to. One of the users on Steam wrote: “Absolutely atrocious performance for how the game looks. Runs even worse than the beta”.

“The game does not look nearly good enough to warrant this performance, the review continued, “Everything is covered in a grimy texture with assets that look like you straight took them out of a PS3 game. If I can run KCD2 and Cyberpunk on maxed out settings comfortably; then there is no reason this game should be running like this. Embarrassing.”

Monster Hunter Wilds

Another negative review was even more alarming, stating “This game has record shattering performance issues. It runs awful. It looks awful. It crashes for no reason. It freezes for no reason. It somehow won’t even launch on Windows telling me an RTX 4070 is unsupported. The open beta at least managed to boot.”

Of course not all aspects of Monster Hunter Wilds are disappointing, with many users praising the gameplay, story and the game’s characters and calling these elements as easily the best in the series. It’s just sad that the game’s awful performance issues can prevent many players from enjoying it to the fullest, at least for the time being.
