ARPG Shrine

The new retro inspired ARPG Shrine’s Legacy has a demo for PC players to enjoy. This new indie title is filled with plenty of callbacks to the Mana series. Indie games try to bring quality experience that makes players reminisce of those good old games. Shrine’s Legacy seems to be ready to be yet another gem in the line of retro ARPG’s. There is still no proper release date for the title, but we can easily assume that it might come around the year 2025. We at Infinite Start will cover what we know about this nostalgic experience.

ARPG Shrine’s Legacy oozes nostalgia

The game is clearly made to be reminiscent to the Mana series, not to mention there’s other references hidden in it too. You can clearly see that the world map is inspired in Chrono Trigger, at least when it comes to the city in the bottom left side of the map. Graphics for the character sprites look like a cross of Stardew Valley with a tinge of some Mana series goodness. The game will feature the option to cooperate with a friend in local co-op, which is such a nostalgic boost to this release. Not many ARPGs provide that feature and it’s good to see it becoming a standard when it makes sense.

A dark shadow has fallen upon the world of Ardemia. An evil force looms on the horizon and it’s up to two young heroes, Rio and Reima, to take up the Sword of the Shrine and save the world from certain doom. Before they can save the world, the duo first needs to restore the Sword by finding its eight elemental gems of magic, along with helping dozens of denizens on the way. It is clear that even the plot takes from the Mana series, the Sword of the Shrine being the Sword of Mana, and the elemental gems being the nature spirits.

If you are interested in basically experiencing the Mana series with it being in good hands, consider trying the demo.
