Valve wants to revive the Steam Console, a leak claims. It is amazing to see when corporate titans compete, this gives a breather to the consumers to recoup their loses. Valve, the company behind the Steam platform, seems to be planning a full on war against consoles. The original Steam console was a flop due to being released in the wrong period of time. Coupled with the fact that its hardware was weak, it was also undesirable too. We at Infinite Start will theorize about this possible situation.
One to rule them all
Despite what people might say about Valve, and all criticisms towards it are true, they have also done good things. It is mostly thanks to them that the Linux market share has risen in a significant way. By enabling this, it is possible for users to take control of their own PC instead of giving it to Microsoft. Along with the benefit of owning your system, you also experience severe improvements in the optimization department. Thanks to Linux your PC is able to run faster and performs things it couldn’t do before.
This is a boon for people who might be stuck on older hardware. So imagine the things it can do to a PC who is running the latest hardware upgrades, as long as you don’t pick Nvidia. Consoles exist for the sake to bring people an easier setup but, they are severely under powered in the current generation. Sony has to rely on making everything exclusive after suffering blunders of epic proportions with the Concord failure. However, that’s the only draw consoles have. The expensive price of consoles does not justify their power capabilities, they should be better or cheaper.
The Steam Console seems to be gearing up to be, at the very least, the cheaper alternative that is able to consolize a PC. After all, consoles nowadays aside from what Nintendo provides, are merely PC boxes with many restrictions on them. The Xbox is literally just a worse PC. But Valve can and will change that.
