A fresh leak indicates that Fortnite is about to get a crossover with Mortal Kombat, and it will include at least two legendary fighters in the battle royale. If the rumor is true, the collaboration will introduce new quest character skins, each of which will have a Mythic weapon or ability, as part of Fortnite’s next *Chapter 6, Season 2.
Scorpion and Sub-Zero Could Be the Featured Fighters
The rumor comes from ShiinaBR, a highly active Fortnite leaker, and was shared through Reddit user KvasirTheOld on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours. Although the leak doesn’t officially introduce individual characters, speculation is reduced to Scorpion and Sub-Zero, the franchise’s most recognized fighters. The two have been Mortal Kombat’s unofficial mascots since eternity, and thus are the most likely crossover contenders.
Epic has had a proven history of collaborating with big brands, introducing characters from Marvel, Star Wars, Tomb Raider, Halo, God of War, and even Metal Gear Solid to Fortnite. Cross-overs between Devil May Cry and Like a Dragon have now been teased more recently, adding to the already staggering list of guest characters in the game. If Mortal Kombat gets added to the mix, it would be the franchise’s first appearance in Fortnite, introducing yet another iconic gaming franchise to its roster.
What to Expect in Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 2
Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 2 arrives on February 21, and as per leaks, it is going to feature a heist theme. There’s a new teaser that has officially revealed the return of fan favorite Midas, but this time featuring a new rugged appearance. Leaks also indicate a pickle skin, either a new Peely design or a return of Pickle Rick from Rick and Morty.
If the Mortal Kombat crossover rumor holds true, Scorpion and Sub-Zero’s ninja attire would fit in just fine with the season’s theme. But fans shouldn’t jump to conclusions quite yet until either Epic Games or NetherRealm Studios officially makes an announcement about it.
Since Chapter 6, Season 2 is arriving shortly, any official announcement, if there’s one to make, won’t be far off.
