Final Fantasy VII Rebirth made its first appearance on the PS5, and now the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC version would soon make its way to the spotlight. But there’s a catch, Hamaguchi’s team has no plans for mod-support for the PC version. On December 13, Epic Games posted an interview held with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi. The interview covered various topics regarding the game’s development and the franchise’s history. Epic Games’ recent X post explains that they too believe the interview came just at the right to explain what fans can expect from the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC version which would launch via Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 23.

PC gamers can finally play what many consider the best @FinalFantasy in decades ⚔️

That said, the last periods of the interview were mainly focused on what players can expect from the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC version of the game. At a time during the interview when intervewer Aidan Moher asked if the the PC version of Rebirth would be “as mod friendly as the 2012 remaster,” Hamaguchi simply replied that the team has no plans for mod-support in the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC version. While he said that, he further explains that he respects the creativity of modders in the gaming community, and adds, “We ask modders not to create or install anything offensive or inappropriate.”

This came up after a series of questions, during the interview, regarding past games in the Final Fantasy franchise. Aidan Moher focused a majority of the interview with Hamaguchi to discuss the first PC version of Final Fantasy VII made its first appearance in June 1998. Moher further talked about the 2012 PC version of FF VII noting the improvements made to the game. After that, Moher goes to the most important part, the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC version. When asked about what improvements PC players can expect from the Rebirth PC version, the interview states, “Hamaguchi’s team (the same group that developed the base game on PlayStation 5) did have to fight the urge to add new content.”

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the next game after Final Fantasy VII Remake. It’s also the second installment of the planned Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC version would be the next to attain great heights in the franchise. Fans can’t wait to get their hands on the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC version which would come with several improvements, but perhaps no new content. That said, with the warning put in place by Hamaguchi to the modding community, fans can be assured that there would be no “offensive or inappropriate” content in the game’s PC version.
