Monster Hunter Wilds DLC Won’t Have Pay-to-Win Items, Capcom Confirms

Capcom has announced that the DLC for Monster Hunter Wilds will not include any pay-to-win items, maintaining the series’ tradition of offering only cosmetic content. This decision ensures that all in-game purchases will be purely aesthetic, avoiding any impact on gameplay balance.

In an interview with Rurikhan, YouTuber and gaming content creator, Ryozo Tsujimoto, producer of the Monster Hunter series, addressed concerns about the game potentially adopting a pay-to-win model. He stated, “We’re sticking with the same direction we’ve always had,” confirming that DLCs will feature items such as costumes and hairstyles but nothing that affects character stats or gameplay mechanics.

However, Tsujimoto also mentioned plans to offer “extra special layered armor” as paid DLC. This sparked some discussions among players about whether offering such content detracts from the game’s experience. Despite these discussions, Tsujimoto emphasized that these items are purely cosmetic and do not influence gameplay.

Monster Hunter Wilds is planned for release in 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
