Grand Theft Auto V has achieved a significant milestone, selling over 200 million copies worldwide. This success comes as the game continues to sell around five million units every three months, even 11 years after its initial release. The information was shared in Take-Two Interactive’s recent earnings report.
The enduring popularity of GTA V is attributed to its captivating gameplay and the success of GTA Online. The game has been a major hit across three console generations, earning it a spot among the best-selling games of all time. Only Minecraft, with over 300 million copies sold, and Tetris, with over 520 million copies sold, have performed better.
Take-Two Interactive also revealed that Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold 64 million units globally, highlighting the continued success of Rockstar Games’ titles. Additionally, the entire Grand Theft Auto series has sold over 425 million copies.
With the highly anticipated GTA VI set to release in Fall 2025, GTA V still has time to add to its impressive sales figures. The upcoming game is expected to further boost Rockstar’s success, as the company expressed confidence in delivering an unparalleled entertainment experience.
