Destiny 2 to get New Halloween Memento and a Delightful Emblem Honoring Funny Guns

As Bungie gears up for Destiny 2‘s annual Festival of the Lost event, a number of exciting additions were revealed for this year’s event.

Much to many player’s surprise, Festival of the Lost will add a new Memento exclusive to the event. At this point a number of players figured Bungie was dropping the concept, as this is the first addition since crafting released with The Witch Queen, so this made for a welcome surprise.

Bungie describes the new Destiny 2 Memento as “black leather,” and will be a random reward players can earn from “Eerie Engrams” that will drop during Festival of the Lost.

These are a random Haunted Sector drop that can be focused into either a seasonal weapon, specific weapon, or a random exotic from a specific category. Every Destiny 2 exotic can not be obtained from these engrams, though select Lost Sector/Vex Strike Force options exist like Star-Eater Scales and Loreley Splendor. A full list for those curious can be found at the bottom of this article.

As some players might recall, back in Sept. there was an unexpected glitch where guns could be crafted with perks not normal present. This lead to shotgun, well, everything, double Eager Edge swords, and countless other extremely overpowered weapons. Players affectionately dubbed these weapons Funny Guns, or Glitch Guns.

In honor of this event, which Bungie calls The Craftening, players will receive a unique Destiny 2 emblem with a fun nod to the event. It’s very reminiscent of the Telesto emblem, just with more of a crafting flare. Anyone will played Destiny 2 between September 15 at 9 AM PDT and September 21 at 10 AM PDT will receive this emblem sometime in season 23.

If this isn’t enough good news for season 23, Bungie is addressing concerns about Always on Time making all other Destiny 2 sparrows irrelevant by giving every sparrow that speed. A much needed improvement given how many great designs go unused for this reason.

Finally, for anyone who wants all the details about Destiny 2’s new eerie engrams can find the official explanation below.

EERIE ENGRAMS

A new type of engram for 2023! Eerie Engrams have two uses. Players can crack them open individually for some treats, or use them as currencies for Hocus Focusing (which we will get into below).

HOW TO EARN EERIE ENGRAMS

Eerie Engrams will have a chance to drop upon completion of Haunted Sectors. Legend Haunted Sectors will have a higher chance of dropping Eerie Engrams.

HOCUS FOCUSING

Eva Levante has seen what Rahool has been offering this Season with Exotic focusing and has decided that she’ll offer her own spooky twist on the mechanic.
