After skipping Sony’s latest State of Play, a number of interesting changes happened with God of War Ragnarök ahead of today’s Summer Game Fest showcase.
First and foremost, PlayStation Game Size tweeted that Sony changed the placeholder date from Q3 to Q4 2022. At this point it shouldn’t be too surprising, given the timing, but that isn’t the only change players are noticing.
Content creator Pyo noted that Sony updated the God of War Ragnarök PlayStation Store listing. While this might be due to the aforementioned placeholder date, similar things happened with Final Fantasy XVI a day before the release date was revealed during the aforementioned State of Play.
Despite some optimistic news, Game Reactor revealed several sources close to them are saying God of War Ragnarök is now set to release in 2023. Following that reveal, noted Game Journalist, Jason Schreier, commented on ResetEra saying his sources have not heard of a delay yet. According to Schreier, one of these sources would have first hand knowledge, with the other second hand, so that might not be the case or possibly something unique to that region.
Hopefully this will be clarified or at least narrowed down later today.
