Castlevania Belmont’s Curse was an amazing reveal that recently dropped, especially when everyone thought the series was dead in the water and just fueled up collection after collection with nothing new in the horizon. Konami has finally done it, something new happened with Castlevania after so many years of nothing, and I’m thoroughly excited when it comes to this game. Perhaps I might get lucky and have the chance to review it because this one was genuinely a surprise drop that nobody expected, and a true return to form that seems to have quality unlike Lords of Shadow.
Castlevania Belmont’s Curse is pure
Theories abound around this new game, but if there is a confirmation about it that should be the fact that this will be another Castlevania entry without any strings attached. Despite being developed by Motion Twin and Evil Empire, studios that are known for their amazing work done in games like Dead Cells and the Rogue Prince of Persia, Castlevania Belmont’s Curse will have a deep respect for the roots of the series it belongs to. This is great, for someone who always complains about games going far from their roots and has seen the demise of many series, this gives me hope.
Konami is actually developing this one too, along with the aforementioned studios, and it seems that this is part of its new push to resurrect the series along with leasing IPs to other studios. It is clear that while this game will remain loyal to the series it belongs to, it will also modernize the formula a bit while still making sense with the ideas of yesterday. We might be seeing a new Metroidvania game where we can play as a Belmont, bringing back familiar abilities such as wall jumps and even the underused power to whip swing away from pits.
