Vitavania is the game that caught my eye for the current Steam Next Fest of 2026, its unique art style filled with charm and coziness, along with the mysterious premise of a Metroidvania about life is quite intriguing to say the least. A demo has been released showcasing the game, and so far it needs a bit of polish in some parts but this developer has come a long way after their initial releases. I’m very intrigued, and I would love to try out a full version someday, I’m also curious on knowing how they have two projects being made simultaneously.
Vitavania is coming soon
We still don’t know when Vitavania will release, or if it will even release first at all, Novella Divina seems to have been announced before it and that one is currently on its demo phase too. Although that one is a visual novel and this one is a metroidvania, which might explain why they can handle both projects at the same time. Novella Divina seems clearly made with RenPy as an engine to speed up the production, while the other people in the team focus on crafting something amazing for Vitavania. This might sound crazy but it can work.
This workflow isn’t particularly weird, as many game developers in the triple A industry also employ it, some of the most beloved developers also employed this in the 90s, having planned sequels of games with months of anticipation, even before some entries came out. Games like Mega Man, and Bomberman have very tiny release gaps thanks to the ease of production and the fact that the artists behind these have been working in tons of assets for them behind scenes. There’s something clear about the developers of Vitavania however, they really seem to enjoy the idea of cat girls, so they already got my wishlist spot.
