Steam Next Fest is here, it returns once again when the month of February is about to close and there’s a ton of new PC games to check out. Most of these demos are coming from indie developers who are new, so make sure that those that put enough effort into them get rewarded, we need to give some incentives to the lifeblood of gaming itself. There’s also demos of games made by big companies, but those often get covered in the massive pile of indie releases that usually happen during these days, so tough luck EA Games or Konami, wait your turn.
Steam Next Fest is online
February brings with us an ample repertoire of games to check out, but it also brings with it many games that really shouldn’t have released, I’m mostly talking about everything that is severely derivative and does not offer anything unique. Games are meant to evoke something that represents those who are making it, of course there is always opportunities to make things as a practice project and showcase it on the Steam Next Fest, but there’s some indie games that look pretty corporate which is genuinely saddening.
Game development is meant to be a way to express yourself, no amount of tooling can help you do that but your effort will certainly take you very far. Most of the indie developers we know and love have put tons of passion into the things they do, people like Toby Fox has inspired countless game developers who decided to take the indie route. What matters the most is that you shouldn’t be afraid of showing your voice, you should focus on setting the trend instead of following it, if you make games because you like making games then you are sure to succeed in this Steam Next Fest event.
