King of Meat is being shutdown, I didn’t even know this game existed until the news dropped but here we are now, yet another live service game that nobody really cared about meets a gruesome end. This is the fate of every live service game, no matter if you are in console, no matter if you are on PC, and this is why things like Stop Killing Games matter so much in current days. There’s a ton of updates when it comes to that movement, and in the coming days we will be seeing some stuff happen here and there, stuff that I will certainly cover to give it more power.
King of Meat is going offline
Nobody really asked for this game, but its yet another one of those that feels very corporate, and when you realize Amazon was behind this one you know why this is the case. Not to mention a ton of people didn’t even know King of Meat existed in the first place, a ton of Youtubers just realized this was even a thing because its currently flopping too. It doesn’t have an year out in the market and its already dying a very quick death, if only the people who made it was allowed to work on a real game instead of a live service, perhaps this wouldn’t have happened.
We all know the fate of this studio is probably going to be that of just layoffs and closures, similar to what happened with Bluepoint and other game studios that were doing an amazing job. Companies never really care about ensuring the safety of their workers, let alone your safety, yet people still keep consuming and paying for their eventual demise. King of Meat’s blunder, and Highguard’s flop shows us that we are tired of seeing live service game, continuing on this route is futile.
