Developer Remedy has recently unveiled a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Control Resonant which shows off supernatural action, exciting level designs and whole lot of stylish combat that can easily turn out to be one of the most refreshing videogame experiences this year. Check out the trailer below:
Control Resonant lets you play as Dylan Faden and take on a wide range of paranormal foes in a trippy, anti-gravity environment where you get to control a shapeshifting weapon titled ‘The Aberrant’. You’ll also be able to upgrade the weapon and unlock more forms and supernatural abilities that will provide a dynamic tool of exciting combat system which looks and feels pretty great and has the potential to be one of the most memorable videogame experiences this year. The platforming with the ability to realign entire buildings and large structures looks equally promising and compliments the action well enough.
“Wield the Aberrant in its many deadly forms and decide how you want to tackle your foes in combat as the weapon morphs on demand to meet each new challenge. Dylan’s abilities extend beyond combat as he uses them to traverse perception-bending locations and grapple with gravity anomalies that distort the vertical and horizontal plane.”
The shapeshifting weapon, along with the inventive anti-gravity type levels can make for delightful combat sequences that can be hugely satisfying and addictive. However, don’t expect the combat in Control Resonant to be as deep and diverse as that of Ninja Gaiden 4 and more in the vein of the rebooted version of Devil May Cry titled DmC which came out way back in 2013. However, being a combat heavy title, the movements seem a little bit slower and sluggish and could sure see some adjustment before release.
Overall, Control Resonant looks and feels like Remedy’s most ambitious project yet and one of the titles to watch out for this year.
