Culdcept Begins has really surprised many, be it the aesthetic, or the fact that Culdcept was practically dead for a decade, the fact that it will come to the Nintendo Switch according to today’s Nintendo Direct is something big. Culdcept was a very old series, it started way back in 1997 on the Sega Saturn, and then it got a port for PlayStation that added more cards into the mix. Culdcept can be described as a fusion of card games and board games, and the merge is so pristine that it feels like they could make an official TCG following the same rules as that of the game.
Culdcept Begins a new journey
Culdcept Begins departs from an art style standpoint, and it feels like it aims to attract a greater crowd towards this amazing franchise while still keeping the fundamentals intact and polishing some unbalanced design choices made in the first entries. Culdcept has always been quite the hard franchise to balance, the card additions are few for a reason, but it would be so nice to see expansions being created. Culdcept Begins will also give players the opportunity to not only engage in Story Mode, but also in Online Mode, where the decks you build can truly shine.
Follow the legends of the Cepters from a new beginning, collect land across the board and face with fearsome enemies who are also seeking to be the best Cepter. By controlling an army of powerful creatures and a vast array of spells, what matters the most is the way you play and the way you build, a true paradise for enthusiasts of card games like Magic The Gathering and Board Games like Monopoly alike. If you are interested in knowing how this all started, Culdcept The First is also releasing this year in 2026, a modernized port of the Saturn original.
