It was earlier claimed by PPE’s Graczdari, one of the notable leakers in the industry that GTA 6 might skip a physical release entirely when it launches in order to avoid potential story and gameplay leaks and Rockstar’s upcoming Open World behemoth may only launch digitally on consoles at first, till 2027. However, that’s not going to be the case at all as Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has completely dismissed the possibility of GTA 6 skipping on physical copies, stating bluntly that it’s “not the plan”.
This completely puts to rest any speculation of the next Grand Theft Auto to not be on physical media which is quite unbecoming for the series, in more ways than one.
Also, in other news of GTA 6, Take Two CEO has also confirmed that there is absolutely no generative AI usage in the upcoming title, which may be assuring for some players who are new to the series but all veteran fans of Rockstar Games know that they are the masters of crafting dense, diverse and lifelike worlds, one of the hallmark traditions of the studio which is set to continue in GTA 6 just as well.
“Specifically with regards to GTA 6, Generative AI has zero part in what Rockstar Games is building. Their worlds are handcrafted. That’s what differentiates them,” he stated.
So no worries on GTA 6 using gen AI at all as the world of Leonida is going to be as handcrafted and lived-in as it’s been in all of Rockstar’s games ever made. Also, it’s a sign of relief to see that in the current state of the industry where many other studios and companies are openly embracing AI as a toolkit for developers, GTA 6 is standing apart from this trend which is perhaps another reason why the legendary Grand Theft Auto series is so darn iconic cause it can defy all trends and fads and stay perfectly old school.
GTA 6 is slated to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
